Satyendar Jain Arrested: Delhi Jal Board Corruption Case Sparks AAP-BJP War
- Updated Aug 20, 2026 3:03 PM IST
Satyendar Jain, former Delhi minister and senior AAP leader, has been arrested by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch along with five others in connection with alleged corruption in Delhi Jal Board sewage treatment plant tenders. The ACB alleges that tender conditions were manipulated to favour a particular technology provider and that illegal payments and kickbacks were routed to individuals linked to the case. India Today has exclusively accessed the ACB’s remand plea, which details the agency’s allegations, including an alleged ₹1.95 crore illegal payment. AAP has rejected the allegations and linked Jain’s arrest to the Punjab polls, where he is the party’s co-in-charge, while the BJP has attacked the AAP over the case. The arrest has triggered a major political faceoff, with the controversy also reviving questions around Jain’s earlier incarceration and the videos that emerged from his prison cell in 2022. Will Satyendar Jain’s arrest and the escalating AAP-BJP war have an impact on the Punjab polls? Watch the full India Today package by Himanshu Mishra and Shristi Ojha.
