SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey outlines four priorities for taking India’s commodity derivatives market forward. The regulator aims to make participation easier by streamlining position limits and margin frameworks while maintaining strong risk controls. SEBI also wants to broaden the participant base, including calibrated wider FPI access, to strengthen liquidity, price discovery and hedging. Strengthening links between derivatives and physical markets through better warehousing, assaying, quality standards and delivery systems is another focus. Under Project Jagrook, SEBI will promote greater awareness among farmers, FPOs, MSMEs and other users. Pandey also called for credible Indian benchmarks reflecting India’s market realities.
