The political battle over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is intensifying, with Opposition parties taking their campaign against the Election Commission to the streets. In Mumbai, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray appeared together at a joint protest, alongside Congress and NCP (SP) leaders, demanding action against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and opposing the SIR exercise. In Delhi, AAP and Left-linked groups protested at Jantar Mantar. Three women journalists have alleged sexual harassment and misconduct by police personnel during the October 3 protest; Delhi Police has transferred their complaints to the Crime Branch for an impartial inquiry. In Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that BJP workers were filing false Form 7 objections to target voters — an allegation the BJP has rejected. Separately, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called recent elections “illegal” and demanded dissolution of the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies followed by fresh elections.
