Tata Trusts has proposed a strategic restructuring of Tata Sons, with the aim of keeping the conglomerate unlisted. The Trusts, which hold a 66% stake in Tata Sons and are chaired by Noel Tata, have proposed merging Tata Electronics Systems Solutions and Tata Consulting Engineers with Tata Sons. The Trusts say the reorganisation would ensure the new entity is neither an NBFC nor a Core Investment Company, helping address RBI requirements. Sources have told Business Today Executive Editor Krishna Gopalan that Tata Sons has been informally asked why it did not consider a similar solution. The proposal comes ahead of the crucial Tata AGM.
