The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is underway in Telangana, with Booth Level Officers conducting door-to-door verification, distributing enumeration forms and updating voter records. The exercise includes linking voter details with the 2002 electoral rolls, verifying documents and processing requests for corrections, deletions and address changes. The drive has sparked a political debate, with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioning the process and raising concerns over documentation requirements. The BJP has defended the revision exercise, accusing the Opposition of creating unnecessary fears. Draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on July 31, followed by a claims and objections period before the final rolls are released on October 1.
