The Trump administration is facing fresh pressure from bipartisan US senators to accelerate implementation of a sweeping Russia sanctions law. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Roger Wicker have urged Washington to target Russia’s “shadow fleet” of oil tankers, financial networks and overseas institutions accused of helping Moscow bypass sanctions. They also want action against Russia’s emerging satellite capabilities, which Ukraine has warned could support devastating attacks this winter. The sanctions package includes restrictions on new US investment in Russia and sovereign debt. With most provisions set to take effect on October 18, lawmakers are demanding clearer Treasury guidance and faster enforcement.
