Floodwaters have wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district after heavy rainfall in Nepal triggered a sharp rise in the Narayani River. A breach in a major embankment led to several homes being submerged, while residents in nearby areas were forced to evacuate. Rescue teams used ropes to reach people trapped near the river, as families rushed to safer locations carrying essential belongings. The administration advised residents within a 10-kilometre radius to leave vulnerable areas. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial review of the flood-hit areas. NDRF, SDRF and police teams continue rescue and relief operations on the ground.
