Ford Mustang goes on sale in India

Ford has launched its muscle car Mustang in India at Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida.

The car is powered by a 5 litre V8 petrol engine and sports electric power assisted steering.

It gets eight air bags which include knee airbags, crash sensors, safety belt pretensioners and Ford MyKey. The top speed of the car is 250 km per hour.

Despite being a two door car, Mustang can easily accommodate four people. The car has ground clearance of 137 mm and fuel tank of 61 litre.

This is the first time in Mustang's 52-year history that the company has launched the model in India. In January, Ford had announced its plans to launch the model in India.

Since Mustang went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 90 lakh units of the model. The sports car delivers power of 401PS.

Mustang will be sold in India as a completely built unit imported from Ford's Flat Rock assembly plant in the US. Globally, Ford sold around 1.1 lakh units of Mustang in 2015, the first year of global availability of the car, including in right hand drive markets.
