All retail liquor shops in Delhi will remain closed for 48 hours on October 9 and 10, according to an order issued by the Delhi government's Excise Department on Thursday.

The department said the decision was taken as a preventive measure to maintain public order following inputs received from the Delhi Police.

The order, dated October 8, directs the complete closure of all retail liquor vends operating under various licences, including L6, L8, L8FG, L8, L10 and L8 & L14, on both days.

The order was issued with the prior approval of the competent authority.

The Excise Department has also directed relevant government agencies, including the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation and Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation, to ensure compliance with the order.
