Monday showers: Heavy rain leaves roads waterlogged, traffic hit across Delhi-NCR
The adverse weather forced the diversion of 15 Delhi-bound flights, including two international services. Eleven of the diverted flights were sent to Jaipur.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms brought large parts of Delhi-NCR to a standstill on Monday, flooding roads, disrupting traffic and affecting flight operations. Waterlogging was reported across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad as the weather department issued red and orange alerts.
ITO Chowk witnessed severe congestion, while water accumulated in Munirka, Badarpur, Aerocity, Burari, CR Park, Alaknanda and near New Ashok Nagar Metro Station.
Students were seen walking through knee-deep water in Sangam Vihar. At the Zakhira underpass, commuters waded through waist-deep water as a mini-truck remained stranded and people dragged two-wheelers through the flooded stretch.

At Vatika Chowk, people pushed a car through the water. Inundation was also reported around Shivaji Stadium and Connaught Place, while heavy showers and strong winds reduced visibility on Parliament Street.
Vehicles crawled along waterlogged sections of the Delhi-Jaipur Highway and National Highway 48 in Gurgaon. Sikanderpur Ghosi, Noida and Faridabad also reported inundation and traffic disruption.
Gurugram offices, schools advised to work from home
In view of the heavy rainfall and the possibility of further waterlogging and traffic congestion, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Gurugram, has advised all corporate offices as well as government and private schools and institutions in the district to guide their employees and staff to work from home from August 25.
The advisory said the move would help avoid traffic congestion and allow civic agencies to carry out road and drain repair work smoothly.

The IMD had warned of heavy to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and winds of up to 40 kmph across the region.
Chhatarpur records highest rainfall
Between 8.30 am and 11.30 am, Chhatarpur received Delhi’s highest rainfall at 28 mm, followed by Lodi Road at 24.6 mm and Pitampura at 18.5 mm, according to the IMD.
Safdarjung recorded a moderate thunderstorm with rain and a temperature of 25.4°C at 2.30 pm. The Ridge reported a light thunderstorm, rain and mist, with the temperature at 27°C. Light rain was expected to continue in parts of the city.
AAP attacks Delhi government
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj targeted the BJP-led Delhi government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over waterlogging in Sadar Bazar, where rainwater reportedly entered shops and damaged goods.
Targeting the BJP-led administration, he added, “Ever since the ‘four-engine government’ was formed, the entirety of Delhi has been suffering from severe waterlogging.”
“The grand claims of drain cleaning have been thoroughly exposed. When will the administration wake up from its slumber?” he told ANI.

Rainfall ranging from 7 cm to 11 cm was recorded in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Assam, coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka.
