The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has expanded its digital FASTag Local Pass facility to 121 toll plazas across India, allowing eligible commuters to apply for a monthly pass online. The facility is intended to simplify travel for residents who frequently use the same toll plaza.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, applicants can now apply through the Rajmargyatra mobile app without visiting a toll plaza or submitting physical documents.

Who is eligible?
The monthly Local Pass is available to residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza. The pass starts at ₹ 350 and allows eligible users unlimited crossings at the concerned toll plaza during the applicable month, subject to the prevailing rules.
It is aimed at people who regularly cross a particular toll plaza for work, education, shopping, medical visits and other routine travel. However, the facility is not currently available at all toll plazas. Applicants must first confirm whether their toll plaza is included in the list of 121 locations covered under the digital system.
How to apply through Rajmargyatra
Commuters can begin the application process on the Rajmargyatra platform. The system uses consent-based access to digital government services, including DigiLocker and VAHAN, to verify the applicant’s information.
Details such as the residential address, vehicle registration and FASTag linked to the vehicle are checked during the process. NHAI then uses GIS-based verification to determine whether the applicant’s registered address falls within the prescribed 20-kilometre limit.
The digital verification process removes the need for applicants to provide separate physical documents or visit the toll plaza for manual address checks.
