President Droupadi Murmu has urged popular celebrities to exercise responsibility while endorsing products, particularly substances that can harm public health.
Addressing the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, she said the influence of film personalities extends beyond entertainment, with their choices capable of influencing millions, especially children and young people.
Murmu said celebrities should use their public influence to encourage healthier and more positive lifestyles rather than promote products that could have harmful consequences.
"A true star is the one who spreads light, not darkness,” Murmu said.
