Indian Railways' Eastern Railway Zone has converted two coaches of old trains into a restaurant. The restaurant on wheels was developed by refurbishing old train coaches at the Asansol railway station. Indian Railways has mentioned in its statement that the restaurant will also generate an approximate earning  of Rs 50 lakh in the next 5 years. Here are all the details.

The 'Restaurant on Wheels' was inaugurated by Union Minister Babul Supriyo. The train coaches can be accessed by both railway passengers and general public. Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change also inaugurated two new air-conditioned retiring rooms and an electronic reservation chart display system, along with a battery operated car.

The restaurant coach which has been named 'Wow Bhojan' has a capacity of 40 people. There is a tea boutique too called 'Chai Chun'.

Railways chose "Condemned MEMU coaches", which were then transported to the site. The interior furnishing work began after the placement was decided.

Earlier Indian Railways' East Central Railways (ECR) modified an unused coach into a cafeteria in Patna, following a staff complaint about not having any cafeteria near Danapur coaching Depot.

The effort is likely to generate non-fare revenue of approximately Rs 50 lakh in the next five years.
