Why Venice is submerged despite a newly-installed flood barrier

Italy's tryst with misfortune continues.People's favourite tourist destination Venice is submerged in water due to a mistaken weather forecast. The new floods barrier MOSE was meant to protect Venice at such a time but due to the wrong weather forecast, the barrier was not activated. Now the city is under water and residents are facing the consequences.

Climate change has worsened the floods in the Renaissance city which faces them every year. A defence system called MOSE was installed in October and citizens were hopeful it would protect them.
