At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson & Executive Editor-in-Chief of the India Today Group, spoke with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the impact of Donald Trump’s tariffs on India and the country’s economic resilience. Vaishnaw said India’s strong macro and micro fundamentals have helped it withstand global turbulence, even as US tariffs remain elevated. He highlighted rising exports, especially electronics emerging as a top export, diversification into new markets, multiple trade agreements, and India’s evolution from a supply-chain to a trusted value-chain partner as key buffers supporting growth.
