Piaggio is banking on the scooter market in India, one of the largest in the world with nearly five million units sold in 2015 and continues to grow at 25 per cent in the current fiscal.  Roberto Colaninno, Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO, said in a statement, "After the success of the Ape and the positioning of the Vespa in the premium segment of the Indian market, we are further strengthening our offering in the subcontinent with the entry of this all new Aprilia SR 150. This vehicle is an excellent expression of the Noale manufacturer's sport expertise and offers technology and style superior to those of its direct competitors in the segment." The company claimed that it had received favourable response to all its two wheelers launched earlier in the country and the Aprilia SR 150 will increase its footprint with the segment's first 150cc scooter. Aprilia SR 150 will be coming with larger 14" wheels with five spokes, similar to the Aprilia racing bikes seen on the Moto GP championship circuits. It will have a single cylinder 150cc, 4-stroke engine. Piaggio wants to reach out to the urban youth with Aprilia. The bookings will commence shortly and will be available through Piaggio Group's distributor network across the country.
