CPI inflation rises to 5% in February after falling for three months

Retail price inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to five per cent in February 2021 from 4.1 per cent in January 2021.  

At all-India level, inflation in the food & beverages group rose to 4.3 per cent in February 2021 from 2.7 per cent in January 2021.  

Inflation in Pan, tobacco and intoxicants group rose to 10.7 per cent in February 2021 as compared to February 2020.   

Clothing and footwear group rose to 4.2 per cent in February 2021 on Y-o-Y basis from 3.8 per cent in January 2021.

Retail inflation of housing has been consistent for last three months. Housing inflation rose to 3.2 percent in Feb 2021.

Inflation in the fuel & light group fell to 3.5 per cent from 3.9 per cent in January 2021. Shivani Sharma, Pragati Srivastava
