FY21 - A forgettable fiscal for auto industry

Retail sales for two-wheelers declined 34% in FY21 on Y-o-Y basis. The figures are the lowest since FY15.

Three-wheelers were the worst affected with de-growth of 65.7% Y-o-Y in FY21.

Passenger vehicles retail sales were better off than other segments, but still saw a de-growth of 12%.

Tractors were an exception. In fact, FY21 has been one of the best years for this segment.

Commercial vehicle retail sales fell 51% Y-o-Y affected by escalated vehicle prices due to BS-6 migration, restricted finance availability.
