IIP rises 29.3% on low-base effect in May 2021

Industrial output, measured by the index of industrial production (IIP), rose 29.3 per cent on a year-on-year basis in May 2021. 

Output of mined products grew 23.3 per cent on y-o-y basis in May 2021. 

The growth was broad-based, with 22 of the 23 sub-groups of the manufacturing sector reporting a rise in production. 

Electricity generation increased by 7.5 per cent in May 2021 on y-o-y basis. 

Infrastructure and construction goods production increased by 47 % on y-o-y basis in the month of May 2021.

Among consumer goods, production of durables rose by 46.8 per cent, while non-durables grew by a meagre 0.8 per cent.
