The NSE anchor book has drawn massive institutional interest ahead of the public issue, with the ₹6,746 crore anchor allocation attracting bids worth nearly ₹1.2 lakh crore — around 20 times the anchor book size. More than 150 investors participated in the anchor round, with both domestic and foreign institutions showing interest. Speaking to Business Today, Gaurang Shah, Sr. VP, Geojit Investments, discusses what the strong anchor demand means for investor interest in NSE, the importance of valuation and the growth prospects of India's capital markets. NSE's public issue is an Offer for Sale (OFS), meaning the shares being offered are sold by existing shareholders and NSE itself does not receive the IPO proceeds.
