Foreign institutional investors have remained heavy sellers in Indian markets over the past several months, but the outlook may be turning more constructive. According to Sandeep Tandon, Founder & CIO, Quant Mutual Fund, India's underperformance has been more relative than absolute, as global investors chased opportunities linked to the AI boom and technology-led rallies in other markets. However, Tandon believes the current phase could represent an important inflection point. He noted that several global markets, particularly Korea and Taiwan, are showing signs of topping out and may enter a period of correction or consolidation. If that happens, capital flows could gradually shift back toward India. Tandon views the recent pessimism toward Indian equities as an opportunity rather than a risk, arguing that market sentiment may be closer to a turning point than many investors realize.
