Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha slammed the Modi government in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, taking a poetic dig at the tax system under the BJP-led NDA government. Speaking in Hindi, Chadha recited a poem in Parliament, criticizing the extensive taxation imposed by the government. "There is a tax on waking up, there is a tax on sleeping and crying. There is a tax on books and ink, on vegetables, cars, houses, and on buying and selling," he stated. Chadha's poem highlighted the burden of taxes on everyday activities and essential items. Additionally, the AAP MP took to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his views. He credited himself for the partial restoration of indexation in the tax system for the real estate industry. Indexation helps adjust the purchase price of an asset for inflation, reducing the tax burden on long-term investments. Chadha's remarks underscore his discontent with the government's approach to taxation and its impact on the common people, emphasizing the need for a fairer and more balanced tax system.
