The recent tragic flooding at Rau's IAS Coaching Center in Delhi has revealed severe criminal negligence. The Delhi High Court, addressing a public interest litigation (PIL), has condemned the apathy of civic authorities and criticized the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for its inadequate infrastructure and financial mismanagement. The court summoned the MCD commissioner and lambasted the MCD for its inability to maintain essential services, even joking about its bankruptcy and inability to pay salaries. Additionally, the court scrutinized the police investigation, questioning the arrest of a passer-by rather than any MCD officials. Meanwhile, students protesting for justice gathered in large numbers in Delhi. Vikas Divyakirti, a teacher and owner of Drishti IAS, also spoke out, acknowledging that student safety issues are more complex than initially perceived. The court's stern remarks highlight the urgent need for accountability, yet there are no clear signs of responsibility being addressed for the tragedy.
