As temperatures soar close to 50°C in the national capital Delhi, the city grapples with a severe water crisis. Residents are resorting to using roadside taps and even bathing on the streets due to the scarcity of water. The Kejriwal government faces criticism and scrutiny for its handling of the situation, with the BJP accusing it of ineptness, inefficiency, and unpreparedness. In response, the Delhi government has imposed fines of ₹2,000 for various water-related activities deemed wasteful or inappropriate. These include washing vehicles using pipes, allowing water tanks to overflow, utilizing domestic water connections for commercial purposes, and employing domestic water connections at construction sites.
