Mumbai will soon be moving on ‘Cable Taxis’ if the new Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has his way. In a conversation with India Today Group’s Mustafa Shaikh, the minister said the cable taxi was his dream project and will involve cable-borne taxis which can transport 15-20 passengers at a time. He added the project will be under the state government’s transport department and not the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Sarnaik also announced the government will slowly electrify the entire 15,000-strong bus fleet of the State Transport Corporation.
