Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman affirms that the Central government diligently disburses all funds owed to Karnataka, ensuring timely delivery to the state government. She highlights a significant surge in tax devolution, which has escalated by 258% from 2014 to 2024, marking a substantial increase compared to the 10-year tenure of the UPA government. Grants allocated to states have also seen a remarkable uptick, soaring by 273%, representing a 3.7-fold rise compared to the disbursements under the UPA administration. For instance, between 2004 and 2014, Karnataka received an annual average of Rs 81,795 crores in tax devolution. In contrast, between 2014 and 2024, the state's tax devolution has reached nearly Rs 2.93 lakh crores, showcasing a considerable increase in financial support from the central government.
