From Sagar To Mahasagar: Amit Shah On India’s Path To Maritime Leadership By 2047

India has become a key part of global connectivity projects such as the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, the Eastern Maritime Corridor, and the North–South Transport Corridor. Speaking at the inauguration of the Fourth India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, Home Minister Amit Shah said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India’s maritime domain has been redefined as a pillar of national strength, regional stability, and global prosperity. He highlighted that nearly two-thirds of global trade passes through the Indo-Pacific, with 90% of India’s trade relying on maritime routes. Referring to the SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision, Shah emphasised India’s commitment to holistic development across the Indian Ocean.
