Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has found herself at the center of controversy as Khar Gymkhana, one of Mumbai's prestigious clubs, revokes her honorary three-year membership. The decision, made by club members on October 20, stems from accusations against her father, Ivan Rodrigues, for conducting religious meetings on the club's premises, which violate the gymkhana's constitution. Shiv Malhotra, a committee member, stated that Ivan held nearly 35 meetings in a hall booked under Jemimah's name for an organization called Brother Manuel Ministries, emphasizing that such activities are prohibited. The club has a strict policy against religious activities, outlined in Rule 4A of its constitution. Despite the controversy, club president Vivek Devnani defended the decision, suggesting that the allegations could be politically motivated, especially with upcoming committee elections. Jemimah's family has yet to respond to the situation. The 24-year-old cricketer was notably the first woman to receive membership at Khar Gymkhana, a significant achievement celebrated within the sporting community.
