Mumbai resident are set for a big relief with the megacity’s second airport set to open in April 2025. The under-construction airport saw a validation flight land on its sole runway on Dec 29. Arun Bansal, Group CEO of Adani Airport Holdings confirmed the airport will be inaugurated on April 17, around 70 days after it receives its Air Operator Permit (AOP) on February 6. Spread across a sprawling 1,160 hectares, the Navi Mumbai International Airport will initially operate one terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers annually. Terminal 2, part of future phases, will add capacity for an additional 30 million travellers in July. Phase 2, commencing in July next year, will amplify the airport’s capacity and infrastructure, solidifying its role as a global aviation hub.
