India’s festive season is brighter this year with a big economic gift from the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled GST 2.0, calling it a “Bachat Utsav” — a celebration of savings for the neo-middle class. The new GST regime replaces the old complex tax system with a simpler “One Nation, One Tax” structure. PM Modi says the reform will save citizens nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore while boosting India’s growth story. He emphasized the principles of “Nagarik Devo Bhava,” urged states to create investment-friendly environments, and called for buying Swadeshi to power self-reliance. GST 2.0 is being pitched as India’s biggest festive gift — a step toward a simpler, stronger, and more self-reliant Bharat.
