The Lok Sabha battle has now shifted to Black vs. White. On Thursday, Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 'White Paper' on the UPA government's economic mismanagement in Parliament. She claimed that when the NDA formed the government in 2014, the economy was fragile, public finances were in disarray, and corruption was widespread. The White Paper also asserted that the Modi government overcame every challenge of the pre-2014 era through effective economic management and good governance. It revealed that under the UPA government, double-digit inflation, ailing banking sectors, and high policy uncertainty tarnished India's image, despite the Vajpayee-led NDA government leaving behind a healthy and resilient economy in 2004. In retaliation, the Congress party released a 'Black Paper,' accusing the BJP government of shielding bank fraudsters and exploiting central agencies for electoral gains.
