Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Washington DC for a two-day visit to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, marking the first high-level interaction since Trump began his second term. During his stay at the historic Blair House, Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora, braving the winter chill. The visit aims to bolster the strategic partnership between India and the U.S., focusing on critical areas like trade, defense, and technology. With concerns over Washington’s "America First" trade agenda, Modi’s priority will be to prevent punitive trade actions against India and explore a potential trade pact to reduce tariffs and expand trade between the two nations. In addition, Prime Minister Modi met with Tulsi Gabbard, the newly confirmed U.S. Director of National Intelligence, to discuss strengthening India-U.S. relations. As the two leaders prepare for their eighth meeting since 2017, all eyes are now on the high-stakes discussions between Modi and Trump.
