During an interaction in Dallas, Texas, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, shared his unique interpretation of the term 'Devta' while addressing concerns about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on jobs. Speaking about Indian culture, Gandhi explained that the word 'Devta' is often misinterpreted as being synonymous with god or deity. Instead, he clarified that in Indian tradition, a 'Devta' refers to a person whose internal thoughts and feelings align perfectly with their external expressions—a truly transparent being. "A Devta is someone who openly expresses everything they believe or think," he said. He further reflected on the complexities of Indian politics, emphasizing how individuals must suppress their own fears, ambitions, and greed to better understand and empathize with those of others. Gandhi’s remarks highlighted the importance of transparency and authenticity, drawing a connection between cultural values and political dynamics.
