The upcoming sleeper version of Vande Bharat trains promises to revolutionize long-distance travel in India, focusing on passenger comfort and convenience. Featuring advanced suspension and improved lighting, these trains aim to provide a superior journey experience compared to other trains. Scheduled to debut in February from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the first prototype of these trains has garnered attention from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who shared glimpses of the AC2 tier interiors. These interiors are meticulously designed to cater to passenger needs, emphasizing spaciousness and efficient access to upper berths. The inaugural Vande Bharat sleeper train will consist of 16 coaches, with only one dedicated to AC1. This configuration includes a total of 857 berths, of which 823 are reserved for passengers, while the remaining 34 serve staff requirements. Notably, each coach will feature three toilets instead of four, along with a mini pantry to enhance onboard facilities. These trains are set to meet the demands of passengers traveling on Rajdhani trains, representing a significant step in upgrading India's rail network. Currently, BEML, a central government PSU, is in the process of manufacturing 10 of these innovative trains for the ICF.
