S. Jaishankar: Partnerships Vary Across Geographies, 78 Nations Engaged By India

At the CII Partnership Summit 2024, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar highlighted the evolving dynamics of India’s global partnerships. He explained how India's engagement varies with different regions, collaborating with the developed world through trade, investment, and technology, while focusing on development projects and capacity building with the Global South, partnering with 78 nations in this effort. Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the IDEAS programme, which uses grants and Lines of Credit to create mutual benefits across the Global South. The Ministry’s focus on Trade, Tourism, and Technology (3Ts) reflects India’s growing economic, political, and cultural influence worldwide, supported by initiatives to assist SMEs and attract investments. Acknowledging a turbulent global economy, he pointed out the increasing prominence of national security, the shift in globalization trends, and the transformative potential of AI, urging stronger collaboration between diplomacy and business. Stressing the importance of working as "Team India," Dr. Jaishankar reiterated that India’s image abroad depends on forging impactful partnerships both globally and domestically.
