External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking at the release of a commemorative postage stamp marking 80 years of the United Nations, delivered a sharp critique of the global body’s functioning. He said “all is not well with the UN,” stressing that its decision-making neither reflects its membership nor addresses today’s priorities. Jaishankar warned that financial constraints and polarized debates have further weakened the institution. Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, he questioned how the UN can claim credibility when a Security Council member protects terror groups responsible for such acts. His remarks underline India’s long-standing call for UN reform and greater accountability in global governance.
