SBI Hits Major Milestones: 22,500 Branches, 65,000 ATMs, And More, Says Nirmala Sitharaman

State Bank of India continues to set benchmarks in India’s banking sector, as highlighted by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Centenary Celebrations of SBI’s Mumbai Main Branch. Currently operating 22,500 branches across the country, the bank is set to add another 500 this financial year. With 65,000 ATMs, accounting for 29% of all ATMs in India, SBI commands a significant share of the banking landscape. It holds 22.4% of total deposits in the country and serves over 50 crore customers. The bank’s dominance extends to digital and card-based transactions, with 25% of total debit card spends, 22% of mobile banking transactions, and 25% of UPI remitter bank transactions.
