Security Measures Tighten For Farmers' March On Delhi; Section 144 Imposed

Iron nails, barbed wires, and concrete barricades fortify the borders of Delhi as thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh march towards the national capital. With threats looming to breach Delhi's borders, authorities have imposed Section 144 and suspended internet services in multiple districts of Haryana. The Punjab-Haryana border remains blocked, intensifying the standoff. Meanwhile, demands for a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP), pension for farmers and laborers, loan waivers, and withdrawal of cases against protestors echo through the protests. Despite divisions among the farmers, with some factions disavowing the February 13 march, political support from Congress and AAP underscores the significance of the movement. The protests, stemming from discontent over unresolved agricultural laws, raise questions about the government's response ahead of the looming Lok Sabha elections. Anmol Bali and Satendra Chauhan report from the Tikri border.
