Ashok Leyland, India's second-largest commercial vehicle maker, has trebled its defence business over the last three years. "Three years ago, our top line in defence was very small at Rs 400 crore and now we have taken it up to Rs 1,200 crore," Shenu Agarwal, the managing director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, told Business Today in an interview. "We think there is huge potential in defence for us - not just in newer platforms for trucks and buses but we are also considering some new segments within defence where we can enter," he said. "That whole planning is going on but our ambition in defence is very high. Defence has worked out very well for us in the past, we think there is huge opportunity for us to grow it further," he added.
