In a first-of-its-kind move, Halga village in Karnataka has introduced a mandatory digital detox every evening. From 7 pm to 9 pm, televisions are switched off and mobile phones put away, replacing screens with books, conversations, and family time. Marked by a village siren, the initiative called No TV, No Mobile, Just Study and Conversation aims to curb excessive screen use, especially among students. With voluntary participation and strong community support, Halga is showing how collective discipline can rebuild focus, learning, and human connection in a screen-saturated world.
