“LNG Demand Is Rising Rapidly”: PM Modi Flags $500 Billion Energy Investment Opportunity In India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at India Energy Week, highlighted India’s rapidly growing LNG demand and the need to strengthen the entire LNG value chain. He underscored opportunities across transportation, shipbuilding, pipelines, terminals, and regasification infrastructure, noting major government investments, including a ₹70,000-crore shipbuilding programme. PM Modi also pointed to the expansion of city gas distribution, petrochemicals, and downstream energy activities as key investment areas. Emphasising reforms in the hydrocarbons sector, he said India is transparent and investor-friendly, moving towards energy security and independence. He invited global investors to “Make in India, innovate in India, scale with India, and invest in India.”
