Moments after 8:45 am, a massive explosion near Baramati airport was caught on a CCTV camera, showing a chartered Learjet 45 engulfed in flames with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on board. The crash killed Ajit Pawar and four others, leaving only the aircraft’s tail intact amid the wreckage. Investigators note this is the eighth reported incident involving Learjet aircraft, raising fresh safety concerns. A similar crash involving the same model occurred in Mumbai in 2023. Owned by VSR Aviation, the aircraft reportedly faced low visibility during landing. The DGCA has ordered a probe, with investigators examining why no distress call was made before the crash.
