The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued more than 150 notices to food companies, including Nestle India, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola India, over alleged misleading advertisements, false claims and non-compliance with labelling regulations.
The regulator announced the enforcement action in a social media post on Saturday, stating that it had acted against several food business operators (FBOs) in recent months for violating food safety laws.
“Over 150 notices issued for misleading advertisements, false claims & labelling non-compliances,” the FSSAI said.
Major brands under scrutiny
According to the FSSAI, action has been taken against several prominent food and beverage companies. The list includes Nestle India, PepsiCo, Abbott India, Red Bull India, Danone India, Monster Energy India, Hell Energy, Mondelez India and Coca-Cola India.
Alcoholic beverage and energy drink manufacturers have also faced regulatory action. The companies named include Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Ferrero India and Kenvue Inc.
The FSSAI said it had seized products from several companies as part of its enforcement drive. However, the regulator did not disclose the specific products or claims involved in every case.

Amazon, Flipkart also receive notices
The crackdown has also extended to online marketplaces and food service establishments. The FSSAI said it had issued 12 notices to e-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart. It added that the licence of one Amazon warehouse had been cancelled for alleged violations.
"One Amazon warehouse license has also been cancelled," it said. More than 30 notices have been issued to food service establishments, including KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Costa Coffee. The regulator said it had suspended five licences held by Domino’s.
Companies taking corrective action
The food regulator said several companies had started taking corrective measures after receiving notices. The actions reportedly followed scrutiny of advertisements, product claims and labelling practices.
The FSSAI had also issued notices to several five-star hotels last year as part of its efforts to strengthen compliance across the food industry.
