Protest against CEC: The Supreme Court should not be dragged into matters of politics, said Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, who refused to meet the INDIA bloc amid protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He said these democratic activities – such as protests – should continue but the apex court must also function.

"All these democratic activities should take place, but at least in the Supreme Court functioning…I have appealed to protesters also. All political parties also...The Supreme Court should not be dragged into this. There should not be any impediment in the movement of lawyers, litigants, court staff. They should be allowed to work," the CJI said, as mentioned in a report in Live Law.
