RIL chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani on Thursday unveiled Reliance Jio's Happy New Year Offer through a live stream.

Ambani thanked the users for the overwhelming response, and said, " Jio is better today than we started, it has crossed 50 million mark in just 83 days. The average rate of addition of 6 lakh subscribers per day is the fastest achieved by any technology company in the world including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype." Under the latest offer, all new users from December 4 will get free services till March 31, 2017. Also, the existing Jio customers will get the extended benefits on current SIMs.  Acknowledging the service issues its customers were facing, Ambani expressed his displeasure over incumbent service providers for not  cooperating.  He said, "The issue of constraint of interconnection capacity from the incumbent operators had plagued the company for the first few months. But there has been an improvement in recent days following the intervention of the Government and TRAI."

Listing out Jio's various achievements, Ambani told that Jio has successfully rolled out eKYC across two lakh outlets in India, thereby allowing activation of SIM to get completed in under five minutes. More than 95% of the activations are being done in a paperless manner through eKYC.  He further added that the company is in the process of doubling the network, to four lakh digitally enabled outlets by March 2017. Jio has also introduced Home Delivery of Jio SIMs. On data usage, Ambani said that a jio subscriber uses 25 times more data than the average Indian broadband user. He also claimed that Jio is delivering four times more data than all other Indian telecom operators combined.

Supporting PM Narendra Modi's move for demonetisation, Ambani announced  JioMoney and said it would be available for download from December 5. "JioMoney will expand its reach to millions of touch points where Aadhar based microATMs will be deployed," he said.
