Manufacturing Drives Growth

Manufacturing, which accounts for the largest weight in the IIP, grew 9% in August. Eighteen of the 23 industry groups recorded positive growth from a year earlier.

In motor vehicles, auto components, spares and accessories, passenger cars and commercial vehicles made significant contributions to growth.

Electrical equipment growth was supported by items such as electrical apparatus used for switching or protecting circuits, including switchgear, circuit breakers, switches, control and meter panels, as well as their parts. End-face connectors for optical fibres and cables, UPS, and solid-state drives also contributed.

In other transport equipment, two-wheelers, railway rolling stock and parts, maintenance or service vehicles, and parts and accessories of motorcycles, mopeds, and sidecars contributed significantly.
