Father’s legacy
Amitabh Bachchan is planning a dharamshala in Ayodhya carrying the name of his father, celebrated poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. A building plan has been submitted to the Ayodhya Development Authority, with the proposed facility expected to have more than 20 rooms for devotees.

Twenty rooms
The proposed Harivansh Rai Bachchan dharamshala is not being planned merely as a symbolic tribute. According to Ayodhya Development Authority Vice Chairman Anurag Jain, it is expected to have more than 20 rooms and provide organised accommodation and other facilities to pilgrims arriving from across India.

Ayodhya land
Amitabh Bachchan plans to build the dharamshala on land he has purchased in Ayodhya. The project adds another dimension to the actor’s association with the temple town, but construction cannot move ahead immediately as the submitted building plan must first pass the prescribed approval process.

Approval awaited
The proposal is still awaiting final clearance. Anurag Jain said the Ayodhya Development Authority has published the plan in newspapers and invited objections. Once the stipulated period ends, officials will examine the application and grant approval according to the applicable rules.
