Meteorite alone apparently wasn't luxurious enough. Montegrappa combined the ancient material with 18-carat gold and fitted the fountain pen with an 18-carat gold nib carrying a meteorite-inspired engraving, pushing the writing instrument firmly into ultra-luxury collector territory.

₹ 90 lakh could buy a luxury car or even contribute substantially towards a home, but someone chose a pen. Priced at $95,000, Montegrappa's meteorite fountain pen still found buyers and was listed as sold out on the company's website, making its astonishing price only half the story.
