1,300km Journey
A massive 100-metre steel bridge has travelled roughly 1,300 km from a specialised workshop in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, to Thane. The 1,405-tonne structure was hauled on heavy trailers before being assembled and prepared for one of the bullet train corridor’s most complex installation jobs.

Nighttime Launch
The bridge was not simply lifted into place in broad daylight. An automated system pulled the completed structure across National Highway-3 during scheduled night traffic blocks, allowing engineers to carry out the operation while limiting disruption for highway commuters.

Built India
The bridge represents more than a long-distance transport operation. It was fabricated at a specialised workshop in Trichy and incorporates protective painting and elastomeric bearings designed to improve durability and manage vibrations, showcasing domestic engineering and manufacturing capability.

16 Bridges
One bridge may have taken centre stage, but the larger project is moving ahead on multiple fronts. With this installation, 16 of the 28 steel bridges planned across the entire bullet train corridor have now been completed, according to NHSRCL.
