After a significant de-escalation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, India and China are taking strides to strengthen their bilateral ties. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will embark on a two-day visit to China on January 26-27, focusing on key discussions around visa policies, direct flight routes, and enhanced economic cooperation. This visit follows NSA Ajit Doval’s recent meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where both sides emphasized maintaining a balanced political perspective and addressing boundary disputes. Additionally, it aligns with the understanding reached between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping during the BRICS Summit in Kazan. The disengagement agreement last year has already allowed both nations to resume patrolling in friction points like Depsang and Demchok, signaling progress. All eyes are on this critical meeting as it sets the stage for future collaboration between the two neighbors.
